We make learning mountain biking fun and safer for everyone. We're proud to have so many positive reviews from happy riders of all skill levels. From first-time trail riders to advanced shredders, our students love how quickly they build confidence with us.
Check out what our riders are saying about their exciting experiences on the trails with us! These real stories from our MTB family help us keep improving our coaching and make sure every session rocks. Been on a ride with us? We'd love to hear your story and share it here - your feedback helps other riders find the right coach to level up their skills.
We both ride EMTB's and Ronnie was able to explain how to get the most positive results from our bikes by using different power setting and using the bike in ways we had not previously thought of. We both learned a lot during our lesson and even more when we are now practicing the drills he taught us. We will definitely be scheduling further lessons.
Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!! I’m closer to 70 than 60 and after training with Ronnie this Spring and Summer, I am riding better and fast than ever. Still so much to learn and refine. He’s such a great instructor!
Ronnie is fantastic, I would recommend him to anyone interest in mountain biking! Before the session I thought downhill mountain biking was just something to do; after our class I fell in love with the sport. I feel I have the basics nailed to go out, practice, get better and shred. I am very thankful Ronnie shared this with me.
We completed a week with the Tahoe Trail Thrashers for 6-12 yo. What a week! Our son (8) had a blast with Ronnie and all the kids. Even with varying skill levels in the group, Ronnie was able to provide focused coaching - our sons improvement with his biking skills and overall riding in just 1 week was amazing! Can't wait for next summer!
My son (6) and I (36) had a great lesson with Ronnie. I've been trying to get into mountain biking for some time and my son is now at the age that he will blow past me on the trails if I don't hone in some of the necessary fundamentals. I can't say this enough, Ronnie is a great coach. He doesn't let you get lazy in your riding and continuously reminds you of the safety practices. Definitely recommend Ronnie for any sort of lessons but feel that private family lessons are the best as you get great information/skills to then enjoy on a family ride together. We look forward to future lessons/riding with Ronnie.
My boys have been coached by Ronnie for a few years and he never disappoints. The progression we have seen under his coaching has been second to none. Ronnie took our green mtb'er and turned him into a top ten DH racing finisher. The boys love him, he makes every session fun and he know just how far to push your child to get the most out of their riding.
I first met Ronnie last year in the local Office Boss and was so impressed by his passion for teaching kids to mountain bike and just have a great time. I signed my son up for a private and then this year he did a full week of Ronnie's Battle Born Prodigies Tahoe Trail Thrashers camp and he had the best time in both and even came home with some tips for his mom. :) Ronnie is great with kids and we kept saying that these kids were "living their best lives" all week at camp. Highly recommend!
So glad to have bumped into Ronnie at a pump park -- such an amazing teacher of biking skills to a young biker! The twelve year old evidenced material improvement in the course of each session (bike park, as well as mountain bike trails), and came back with a ton of enthusiasm for the sport, thanks to Ronnie. The video feeds were useful for maintaining engagement during the lesson, as well as providing lasting teaching.Bottom line: Ronnie is great with kids, apart from being a great teacher.
I took my first ever MTB lesson yesterday with Ronnie. Ronnie was patient and also broke down the basic skills and had me rock rolling by the 2nd hour. I had such a blast with him I just booked monthly lessons for the rest of the summer. Highly recommend. He's worked with all ages and genders.
We are so thankful the awesome BackCountry bike store in Truckee referred us to Ronnie who worked his magic with our teenage son with patience, enthusiasm, kindness, and incredible knowledge about mountain bikes and the beautiful trails of North Lake Tahoe. Ronnie does not just "speak bike" and "ride the ride" - he also knows how to instill confidence and inspiration with information and care of a professional. I highly recommend Ronnie to any parent, especially one of a child with special needs; he has that "je ne sais quoi" ability to connect. Ronnie generously shares his rare gift with children in a way that is beautiful to experience. Thank you Ronnie for creating three joyful biking adventures for our son! You have officially become part of our annual vacation ritual. We look forward to seeing you every time we come back to Lake Tahoe!
My son (7) and I had two days of family MTB lessons with Ronnie and if you’re even considering doing it you should! Ronnie really understands how to work with both kids and adults to improve their skills, and to make it fun! I wasn’t sure how family lessons would work since my son and I have very different riding abilities, but we both got so much more out of this than I expected. I could see a difference in our riding after just a few hours!
My son and I (10 year old) signed up for a Family MTB lesson last minute and Ronnie was able to squeeze us in. We were blown away with the attentiveness and three hour plan he had prepared for us. It's clear he had worked with kids of all ages given his regular assessment of energy levels, water breaks and check-ins. We especially appreciated the 1:1 time, given the diluted focus of many of the riding camps out there. We will certainly be calling on Ronnie again when we return to the area.
My son (8yrs.) participated in Ronnie’s camp for the first time this summer. It was a fantastic experience for him! He really enjoyed and respected how Ronnie taught the kids not only mountain biking, but also about various animals in the forest, how to identify surrounding plants and even about the history of the trails they rode. I loved picking my son up each afternoon as he was covered in dirt and had the biggest smile plastered across his face. We will definitely be doing the camp next summer and I think I’ll send my daughter along as well. We highly recommend Ronnie’s mountain bike camp to anyone from beginners on!
Ronnie was very patient, clear with his instruction and gave inspiring demos complete with back flips. He interspersed his instruction with plenty of corny jokes to keep our spirits high. He also took video of us and of his demos so that we had those to reference back to after the session. All in all we can't wait for our next session with Ronnie! If you are on the fence about booking a session with Ronnie I would say don't delay, so that you can get going on learning proper riding techniques that will maximize your fun on the bike while keeping you safe at the same time.
Our family of 3 took Ronnie’s 3-hour Fundamentals private class at Sierra Vista Park. He was prompt, positive and attentive. Ronnie was both good at explaining and demonstrating the drills. He tailored the drills to our skill levels and worked really well with the skill variance between family members. Highly recommend his class.
My kids absolutely loved this camp. Ronnie did a great job coaching them up and they learned a ton on a handful of trails around Truckee.
I had so much fun in my first lesson with Ronnie! His teaching style is very laidback while still being well organized. He took time through the lesson to check in with me about how I was doing and what I wanted to work on. I’m looking forward to taking more lessons with him.
We booked a group lesson with Ronnie because we were looking to experience some Tahoe trails as a family and see if we could all ride a bit better....especially me & my wife! Ronnie was super patient with all of us and walked us through some basics before we hit the trails. We never felt out of our depth on anything we were riding and our children had a wonderful day showing us just how much we have to learn. The fact that it was just our family made the day feel much more exclusive and personal. If you are in Lake Tahoe and are looking to go mountain biking you should definitely consider adding Ronnie to your list of potential teachers.
Me and my son had a great time with Ronnie. He took us through the basics of mountain biking and made us feel at ease. A definite recommendation for anyone looking for a mountain bike lessons.
Ronnie works to ensure the kids are responsible riders, teaches them the importance of being prepared out on the trails, and shares his love for the sport that all culminates in such a fun adventure! We will definitely be riding with Ronnie again!
My 9 year old did a summer camp with friends both old and new and had the best time and learned so much! Ronnie is a great coach and teacher! Definitely recommend for your kids.
Ronnie has worked with my 10 year old son over the past month and the progress has been tremendous. My son LOVES riding with him and is learning so much - Ronnie is an outstanding coach, super positive, supportive and pushes just enough so my son develops confidence and continues to progress.
I recently went on vacation in Tahoe with my dad and we decided to do two lessons with Ronnie while we were there. We've both been riding regularly for the past several years but wanted to have a professional take a look at our riding to see where we could improve, and Ronnie did just that. He did a great job breaking down a variety of different skills that we needed to work on while making it super fun at the same time. We came away from both the sessions better and more knowledgeable riders.
I have taken a few lessons with Ronnie. He is an excellent, knowledgeable instructor. He is very patient and positive and makes it fun. I would recommend him for riders of any age or skill level. He reaches out before the session to discuss what I want to work on, and gives advice on preparation so I get the most out of our session. I like that he gives the bike a once over before we start, and has helped me by making small adjustments (suspension air pressure for example) to improve my experience on the bike.
